How we work the charity abseil

Thankyou for choosing Rock and Ice as your abseil event provider. We can assure you the day will run smoothly as we have a wealth of experience in this area.

Prior to the event:

You will have a risk assessment and method statement carried out by a senior Rock and Ice instructor - this will be forwarded to yourself and the building facilities manager as required.

Copies of our insurance will be provided at this point on request.

Once we have visited we will allocate the staff to your event to handle the technical side only - you are required to marshal the event i.e. Provide several persons to man a registration point and manage the participants arrival.

Payment in full will be required prior to the risk assessment and the event itself. A deposit is acceptable with the balance to be paid 30 days prior to the start date.

We recommend you take a registration fee from the participants to cover the basic costs - people will often let you down at the last minute if they are not held to a basic contract - 25 -35 £'s is a reasonable fee to charge.

We require participants to inform us of any medical conditions that would possibly affect them on the day.

Minors

NB. If any participants are under 18 years of age we require this form filling out by their parent or legal guardian

On the day we request you have Avery labels with the participants name on so we can identify who has medical problems. If the participant has no issues use lower-case for their name and if the participant has a condition we need to be aware of please use capital letters. This way we can ask in a discreet manner.

Clothing requirements

Suitable clothing must be worn. This excludes scarves, heavy jewellery, dresses and high heels. It may rain on the day so please bring a waterproof jacket. Long hair must be tied back or it may get caught in the ropes on descent.
Leather gloves will be provided but if you wish to use your own any building/gardening type of glove will suffice.

Mobile phones and wallets should not be carried in open pockets, we would prefer them to be left in a safe place during the abseil as they could fall out of the pocket and cause a problem.
